Intellectual curiosity is one of Meleto’s pillars.

Villa Meleto was Cosimo Ridolfi’s home.

Ridolfi was a Renaissance man. He was an intellectual, a politician, and an innovator. In 1834, he established the first plant science program on his Meleto estate, which prioritized interdisciplinary study and exposure. The program educated students on the integrated study of agronomy—a field that combines biology, chemistry, economics, ecology and genetics. At Villa Meleto, Ridolfi exposed his students to the fruitful fields surrounding the estate where they tested and iterated on avant-garde farming techniques. Ridolfi forged efficient, conscientious approaches, such as a vertical grape vine structure and diffuse water system, that became the most innovative practices of his time—and that continue to be widely used today. We hope to continue his legacy.

We anticipate hosting seminars, colloquiums, and conventions that bring together global leaders in the fields of agronomy, medicine, psychology, art, gastronomy, philosophy, and more.
